This is one mean '56 Caddy. This Coupe de Ville was originally customized in the Mid-1980's and finally built to its current state by a longtime Cadillac collector. The car is done in a '50's rockabilly style, lowered four inches in front and three in the rear. The exterior has been professionally painted in Satin Black, with lime green scallops and hand done custom pinstriping. The rear quarter panels have each been bestowed with a very high quality vinyl Vargas pinup girl, while the original hood ornament was tossed in favor of a hand painted flying goddess. On the inside, the louvered metal dashboard has been pinstriped as well, and the Autronic Eye headlight dimmer has been painted as a von Dutch eyeball. The shifter has been replaced with a wood-handled sword.
Mechanically, she runs great. Her engine is a 350 Chevy, recently redone and with only about 2,000 miles since. The engine rebuild included new rings, bearings, and seals all around, reconditioned heads, a rebuilt starter and alternator, new oil and water pump, new coil, wires, and Accel dual point distributor. She breathes through an 80's quadrajet carb and an aluminum 4 bbl intake. The engine starts and runs well, and the dual exhaust emits a low, mellow growl through the tips in the rear bumper. Attached to that sword is a 700r4 transmission with overdrive.
The brakes are all Cadillac and have been rebuilt fully with a rebuilt Treadlevac system, new hoses, lines, and wheel cylinders. Tires are in good shape and are H78 Bias Ply white walls. The body is in good shape and very dry, no rust bubbles, no holes. Heaters, lights, power windows all work. There's an Alpine stereo in the glovebox, and the original Wonderbar is in the dash but not working. The door handles and trunk lid are shaved and actuated with electric poppers, one hidden under the wheel well for the driver's door and on the dash for the trunk. The trunk has been gone through with new carpet and a new liner. In the interior, the green leather seats were redone a while back and are still in great shape. Power seat works. The headliner is new.
This is a very cool '50's rockabilly ride. These '56 Coupe de Villes are valuable cars now, so it's unlikely that a car like this would be built again. Now is your chance to own one of the most unique vintage rockabilly cars available.
The car is available at Cadillac Drive in Boulder, CO. Safe and reliable shipping can be arranged anywhere in the world.
